Young athletes line up for the race in the previous edition of Ngelel-Tarit Kids Race

Kids are gearing up for the 5th edition of the Ngelel-Tarit race, scheduled for Thursday, December 12, at Kipsinende Primary School in Uasin Gishu County. The event, which follows the excitement of last Saturday's Chepsaita Cross Country, will feature a variety of race categories for both young athletes and the elderly, offering a platform for participants of all ages to showcase their talents.

Race Director Richard Metto confirmed that all preparations for the event have been finalized. "We are fully prepared and excited to host this event. It's always heartwarming to see so many kids and adults coming together to celebrate their love for running," Metto said. "This race is an important part of our community's athletic culture, and we're looking forward to seeing another great turnout."

The race will feature a range of categories catering to different age groups, with events designed to accommodate both the young and the elderly:

  • 200m for 5-8 Years Boys/Girls
  • 1km for 9-12 Years Boys/Girls
  • 1km for 40-50 Years Women
  • 1km for 45-55 Years Men
  • 500m for 51 Years & Above Women
  • 500m for 56 Years & Above Men
  • 2km for 13-15 Years Boys/Girls

The young athletes, many of whom participated in the Chepsaita Cross Country just a few days ago, are eager to continue showcasing their skills.

For the older participants, the race provides a unique opportunity to stay active and engaged in the sport.

Metto emphasized the significance of the event in fostering a sense of community and encouraging physical activity at all ages. "Whether you're 5 or 70, the Ngelel-Tarit race is a celebration of running and well-being," he said. "It’s a chance for everyone to challenge themselves, connect with others, and be part of something special."

With strong community support and a growing interest in athletics, the Ngelel-Tarit race is set to be another highlight in the Uasin Gishu County sports calendar. Participants, young and old, are ready to hit the starting line with enthusiasm, as they continue to inspire one another and the broader community through their passion for running.
