Wangari and Lomuryon dominates U15 category at ISF world cross country championships

Jane Wangari and Peter Lomuryon Pangai emerged victorious in the under 15 category at the ISF event held at Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi.

Wangari, a form one student at Kiambogo Secondary School, claimed the girls’ title in the 2.2 km race with a time of 7:40.8. She surpassed Faith Jeptum from Sinonin Secondary School, who finished second with a time of 7:42.1, and Clair Cheruto in third at 7:43.2.

Kenyan athletes dominated the race, securing the top ten positions in the under 15 girls’ category. Wangari mentioned that they had strategized for these outcomes the night before the event, aiming for a strong finish to honor their country.

“I had aimed for a top 10 finish, but fortunately, I clinched the victory. I’m delighted; we had planned to achieve good results and bring pride to our nation,” Wangari remarked.

In the boys’ category, Peter Lomurwon Pangai claimed the title with a time of 10:18.6, leading ahead of Benson Kirongos Tipapa (10:22.5) and Dan Kibet from Kibobo (10:33.5).
